In Kin-etiq.ai's research, 198 of 305 businesses (64.9%) were not named in a single AI answer about their own category. These are businesses Kin-etiq.ai chose to approach as sales prospects or assessed for a partner, not a random sample. The AI visibility research gives the method and its limits.
Why does GEO start with search?
ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini often answer buyer questions by searching the web and quoting the pages they find. In our 28-question test Claude chose to search for every question, and Gemini answered 4 without searching. Google says a page needs nothing extra to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode (Google's chat-style search). The page must be indexed, which means stored by Google so it can show in results, and allowed to show a snippet, the short text under a result. So GEO is search work plus two extra jobs: reading the AI answers themselves, and getting onto the outside pages they quote.
In the same research, of 266 businesses whose homepage was readable and open to the crawlers AI assistants use to answer, 165 (62.0%) were named in no answers, close to the 64.9% for all 305 businesses tested. The study counts these side by side and does not claim cause and effect.
Two of our guides cover the same ground for a business owner: how to get your business recommended by ChatGPT and why ChatGPT does not recommend a business.
What does Kin-etiq.ai fix?
On the Grow and Build plans, Kin-etiq.ai fixes what monitoring finds, month by month.
- We rewrite your pages so each one answers its main question in the first hundred words. The page address, title, heading and first sentence all say the same thing, and every important page shows how to reach you.
- We check that AI search tools can read your site. Letting AI companies train on your site is a separate choice, and we ask you. If your site runs on Cloudflare, we check the Cloudflare setting that can block these tools.
- We write one approved fact sheet that the site, your profiles and your articles all repeat, so the engines describe the right business. We also correct your Google Business Profile so it matches the fact sheet.
- We work to get you named on the pages the engines cite, ask your own recent customers for reviews on the sites the engines read, and get your associations and partners to link to your site.
- We publish two articles a week, drafted with AI in your own voice. Each is built on your own jobs, numbers and photos, and shaped as a question, a direct answer and the supporting facts.
- We connect Google's and Bing's free site reports and your visitor statistics, and count visits that come from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity.
Every fix is re-tested 30 days after it goes live, with the same buyer questions on the same engines.
